Generations Secures $50k in Grant Funding for Nine Non-Profits in Orleans County
Medina, N.Y. – Generations Bank announced today that they have secured $50,000 in grant funding from the Federal Home Loan Bank of New York (FHLBNY). The funds will be distributed between nine Orleans County non-profits.
This marks the third grant secured by Generations Bank from the FHLBNY, similar grants were awarded in December 2023 to benefit five non-profits in Union Springs and September 2024 to seven non-profits in Seneca County.
AG Cutrona, EVP – Chief Banking Officer at Generations Bank, who led the grant application process on behalf of the non-profits, said, “We are truly grateful to Tom Settino, Vice President of Member Relations at Federal Home Loan Bank of New York, for bringing this opportunity to our attention, and to the FHLBNY for their generous support. This funding will make a real difference in the lives of people throughout Orleans County.”
The nine grant recipients are: Community Action of Orleans and Genesee (Albion), East Shelby Volunteer Fire Company (Medina), Knights Kaderli Memorial Fund (Medina), The Lee Whedon Memorial Library (Medina), Medina Emergency Food Pantry (St. Peters Lutheran Church), Operation Honor (Medina), Orleans Community Health Foundation Inc. (Medina), Orleans County YMCA (Medina), and People for Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) of Orleans County (Albion).
Grant Distribution and Planned Uses:
- Community Action of Orleans and Genesee: $5,000 to support essential needs, including food, rental, and utility assistance.
- East Shelby Volunteer Fire Company: $5,000 for equipment purchases, including protective turnout gear and essential tools.
- Knights Kaderli Memorial Fund: $5,000 to assist with health care expenses for cancer patients in Orleans County.
- The Lee Whedon Memorial Library: $10,000 to provide educational programs for local schools and the community, focusing on emerging technologies, with access to lessons, activities, and engagement tools.
- Medina Emergency Food Pantry: $5,000 to purchase additional food amid declining donations.
- Operation Honor: $5,000 to continue veteran support and launch a monthly Veterans’ Breakfast Club at various locations.
- Orleans Community Health Foundation Inc.: $5,000 to invest in life-saving equipment and expand local access to healthcare for families.
- Orleans County YMCA: $5,000 to support services for all, regardless of ability to pay, including scholarships for individuals and families in need.
- People for Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) of Orleans County: $5,000 to cover veterinary costs, ensuring all animals are spayed/neutered and vaccinated.
